~~NOTOC~~ //Pro-tip: it's easier to get away with sleeping through the boring talky exposition part of adventures when you paint pictures of your eyes on your eyelids.// Illusions are a useful tool for adventurers that enjoy using trickery and misdirection to solve their problems, and has a very high amount of added utility from player imagination and skill. It's noteworthy that the Illusionist archetype mostly deals with adding new sensations to the environment; if you are more interested in changing/manipulating your own appearance check out [[Charlatan]] or maybe [[Duplicator]] instead and if you just want to straight-up mess with people's brains then [[Mesmer]] might be more your speed. ^[[#Illusionist]] ^^Create illusions. | |{{fa>caret-right?24}} |[[#Animation]] |Your illusions can move. | |{{fa>caret-right?24}} |[[#Enduring]] |Your illusions last longer. | |{{fa>caret-right?24}} |[[#Melange]] |Fool more senses. | |{{fa>caret-right?24}} |[[#Mirage]] |Your illusions cover more ground. | |{{fa>caret-right?24}} |[[#Obscure]] |Subtractive illusions. | ^ ^^^ ====== Illusionist ====== ^ ^^^ ^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Hologram:** You can create a three-dimensional image of anything you want in any space within throwing range (0-10 meters) as an action. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Constrained:** Whatever you make an image of cannot be larger than the single space it's inside. Your illusion is completely silent, still, and intangible. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Short-Term:** Your illusions disappear at the end of the exploration turn in which they're created. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Additive Only:** Illusions can only add things, not take them away. You could create an illusionary couch in the middle of an empty room and then hide real things (like yourself, maybe) inside it, but you couldn't make the room seem to be completely empty if it actually isn't. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Check-Based:** When any creature comes within detection distance (10 meters or the same room, whichever's less) of your illusion, roll a trigger die. If the result is 5+, they believe it. If not, they can see right through it and know it isn't real. Check a maximum of once per round no matter how many creatures pass nearby your illusion, and never check more than once per creature- once they've been fooled by any given illusion, they stay fooled by it. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Immaterial:** Anybody that physically interacts with your illusion in any way automatically discovers it isn't real. If your illusion is really weird or out of place, they're almost guaranteed to try interacting with it even if you pass the illusion check on them. | |{{fa>caret-right?24}} ^{{fa>star?24|Alternative}} |{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Flickering Focus:** If you fail to make your illusion convincing, you can retry your check if you'd like. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Mojo:** Every time you retry an illusion check, you must spend 1 Mojo. | ^ ^^^ ====== Animation ====== ^ ^^^ ^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Puppeteer:** So long as you are within 20 meters of your illusion and can see it clearly, you can cause its parts to move and act in any way you please. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Concentration:** Controlling your illusion for a round requires you to spend an action. | ^ ^^^ ^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Looping:** You can set your illusion to perform a short loop of activity no more than a single round long. It will continue to do so until the illusion expires with no additional concentration or input required from you at all. | ^ ^^^ ====== Enduring ====== ^ ^^^ ^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Long-Lasting:** Your illusions last until the end of the current session instead of only for one exploration turn. \\ \\ {{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Animation Extension:** If you also know the Animated ability from this archetype, you can set your illusions to repeatedly perform loops of up to one procedure in length instead of only one round. | ^ ^^^ ====== Melange ====== ^ ^^^ ^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Multisensory:** Your illusions produce the impression of sound, smell, temperature, etc in addition to visuals. The only sensory input that your illusions cannot faithfully simulate is touch. | ^ ^^^ ====== Mirage ====== ^ ^^^ ^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Wider Field:** Your illusions can extend into any/all spaces within 2 meters of the target location in addition to the target location. | |{{fa>caret-right?24}} ^{{fa>star?24|Alternative}} |{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Hallucinatory Terrain:** You can choose to extend your illusion into any/all spaces within 10 meters of the target location. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Mojo:** Every time you create a really huge illusion, you must spend 1 Mojo. | ^ ^^^ ====== Obscure ====== ^ ^^^ ^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Subtractive Illusion:** You can create illusions to hide real things instead of only adding fake things. Anything you choose to hide in this way is effectively invisible. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Delicate Trickery:** Creatures and other animate things are only hidden by this ability so long as they remain still. \\ \\ {{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Multisensory Removal:** If you also know the Melange ability from this archetype, you can effectively remove or alter other forms of sensory input (sound, taste, smell, etc) within the target area as well. | ^ ^^^
