 +If you're an adventurer that likes solving problems in ways that don't involve stabbing and you don't mind lying your ass off to do it, Charlatan is a highly useful archetype. Masters of disguise exist in almost any setting, making this archetype also easy to conceptually justify. If you want to make sure your lies are extra plausible, consider also investing time as a [[Trickster]].

-^{{ra>two-hearts?48|Social}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Likable:** When rolling to befriend an NPC you succeed on 5+ instead of a 9+When rolling to increase an already-existing friendship to a bond, you succeed on 9instead of an 11+. | +^{{ra>two-hearts?48|Social}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Disguise:** You make yourself not recognizable as yourself through the use of makeup, latex, illusion or similar aesthetic trickery. You can freely change your perceived coloration, age, weight, ethnicity, sex, or similar. You cannot change your perceived species or radically change your body type, nor can you make yourself look precisely like another creature who already exists. Your voice, scent, and mannerisms remain unchanged. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Self Only:** Part of your immense skill with disguises stems from your intimate familiarity with your own face/body. You cannot craft convincing disguises for anyone other than yourself. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Slow Application:**  It takes procedure of continuous work to apply disguiseYou can remove a disguise as a single action. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Skin-Deep:** Your disguise only works when nobody examines it too closely. Makeup tends to smudge offwigs go askew, etc. If you partake in too much physical activity, get soaked in water, get intimate with somebody, or some similar circumstance your disguise is ruined. The GM decides when and if this happens and will probably warn you of the potential for such if possible. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Check-Based:** Roll trigger die when you encounter anybody who's familiar with you. If the result is 5+, they don't recognize you; if not, then they see through the disguise. Once you've fooled a given creature once, they stay fooled until the end of the session. |
-|{{fa>caret-right?24}} ^{{fa>star?24|Alternative}} |{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Solid Friends:** You can choose to befriend a subject regardless of the trigger die result, or form a bond on a result of 7+. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Supply Cost:** Every time you make friendship in this way, you must spend 1 Supply. |+|{{fa>caret-right?24}} ^{{fa>star?24|Alternative}} |{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Roguish Deflection:** If you get recognized, you can distract whoever's about to spot you right before they can put it together. This allows you to retry if you'd like. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Mojo:** Every time you avoid getting recognized after botched disguise check, you must spend 1 Mojo. |

-====== Casteless ======+====== Alter Ego ======

-^{{ra>two-hearts?48|Social}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Preconception Dodger:** You never suffer any unusual animosity from interacting with others of a different social class/race/species/whatever than yourself. With this ability peasants can rub elbows with kingsPalestinians can party with Israelis, and a robot can be accepted into a troop of monkeys. \\ \\ {{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Haters Gonna Hate:** Note that given creature can still hate you for any number of other, more personal reasons, but these reasons must be personal rather than simply blanket hate of your entire background. |+^{{ra>two-hearts?48|Social}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Alter Ego:** You can create an alternate identity for yourself you can switch to by switching up your disguise. Your alternate identity has their own namereputation and everything required to exist (if you play in a setting with social security numbers and credit cards, your alternate identity has their own). \\ \\ {{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Flawless Mask:** When in disguise as specific alter ego, you cannot be recognized as yourself and no longer need to make Disguise checks when encountering others who are familiar with you. \\ \\ {{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Renewable:** You can burn an alternate identity or create new one at any time. You have no limitation on how many alternate identities you can have at once. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Fraudster's Price:** It takes fair bit of time and effort to set up an entire alternative identity that won't fall apart on close inspection. Creating a new identity costs 5 Dosh, but once set up it never expires or becomes unusable unless you want it to. |

-^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Hirelings:** You can hire lackeys, minions or assistants that will accompany you on adventures. Hirelings are defined as sapient, free-willed creatures that work for you in exchange for material compensationYou control the actions of your hirelings for as long as they remain in your service. \\ \\ {{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Hiring Pool:** You can hire any non-hostile creature that you are capable of communicating with in some way. In civilized areas this generally means you get your pick, but you can also make hirelings out of any rescued prisoners, wandering minstrels, friendly woodsmen and similar types you meet in the wilderness during an adventure. \\ \\ {{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Friend Discount:** If you have a friendship with the creature you wish to bring on as a hireling, roll a trigger die when acquiring their services. If the result is a 9+, they waive their fee for that session and come along for free. If not, you must pay their fee as normal. You can't offer to hire somebody and then turn them down because they won't work for free. If you have a bond with the target creature, then they waive their fees on a 5+ instead of a 9+\\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Wages:** Hirelings require 1 Supply to join you, paid up front. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Length Of Service:** A hireling will follow your orders for the duration of the current session. If you wish to retain their services in future sessionsyou must pay their hiring fee again\\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Chumps Only:** You can only hire creatures whose level is maximum of half your own (rounded down). \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Morale Concerns:** If you abuse your hirelings or place them in unnecessary danger (unnecessary is generally defined as any danger that you aren't exposing yourself to as well) they will desert you at the next available opportunity. | +^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Quick Change:** You can change disguises as a single action rather than requiring a procedure
-|{{fa>caret-right?24}} ^{{fa>star?24|Alternative}} |{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Hire Higher:** You can recruit creatures with a level up to twice your own. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Wage Bump:** Hirelings with a level equal to or less than your own have a hiring cost of 2 Supply instead of 1Hirelings with a level equal to or less than twice your own have a hiring cost of 5 Supply instead of 1. | +^ ^^^
-|{{fa>caret-right?24}} ^{{fa>star?24|Alternative}} |{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Headhunter:** You know guy that knows guy who would be a perfect addition to the team you're putting togetherWhen in a civilized area, you can effectively create your own hirelings by specifying their levelloadout, combat ability distribution, etc. The referee only determines their appearance and temperament (and maybe not even that). \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Hunting Fee:** Using Headhunter to build your own hireling requires you to spend 1 Supply. This cost is in addition to the Supply spent to actually hire them. |+^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Shared Disguisery:** You can disguise somebody else as quickly and well as you disguise yourself
 +^ ^^^
 +^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Fashionista:** You can provide any sort of clothinguniform or costume on demandDoing so requires procedure as you dig through your collection. |
 +^ ^^^
 +^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Morph:** The disguise is either incredibly durable or actually physically changes your body somehow (making it biological in nature rather than mere trickery). In any case, your disguises cannot be ruined by any external circumstances. \\ \\ {{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Smells Right:** Your scent is changed to match your disguise\\ \\ {{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**More Versatility:** You can disguise yourself as similar or related species. For example, human could be disguised as an elf or chimp but not as a squidYou gain no special qualities or abilities of your new form, only its shape and appearance. |

-====== I Know You ======+====== Impersonation ======

 ^ ^^^ ^ ^^^
-^{{ra>two-hearts?48|Social}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Long Time No See:** When encountering or interacting with a nameless NPC (a bartender, clerk, policeman, evil henchman #4, or similar) you can declare that you have actually met them before and you know them on a first-name basisRoll a trigger die; if the result is 5+ the target NPC also remembers you. If the result is a 9+, you already have a Friendship-level relationship with the NPC. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**No-Names Only, Maybe:** The GM has the right to disallow you from using this ability on NPCs that already have names and backgrounds, but there's no hard rule that says you can't either. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Supply Cost:** Using I Know You to declare previously-existing relationship costs 1 Supply. | +^{{ra>two-hearts?48|Social}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Mirroring:** You can craft disguises that look exactly like another creature that already existsYou must be familiar with the creature you are impersonating in order to disguise yourself as them. \\ \\ {{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Mimickry:** You disguise also alters your voice and your mannerisms. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Increased Danger:** When disguised as specific other individual, you run the risk of being discovered (and thus need to make disguise checks when encountering) not only by those who are familiar with you, but also those who are familiar with the one you are impersonating. |
-|{{fa>caret-right?24}} ^{{fa>star?24|Alternative}} |{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**You Know Me:** You can choose to establish previously-existing friendship between yourself and the subject of I Know You regardless of the trigger die result. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Supply Cost:** Every time you make a friendship in this way, you must spend 1 Supply. |+|{{fa>caret-right?24}} ^{{fa>star?24|Alternative}} |{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Infiltrator:** At any time during a session, you can go off on your own (effectively removing yourself from the party and proceedings temporarily). Later, you can declare that some chump background character in the vicinity of the rest of your party reveals themselves as you in disguise. For instance, when your party is facing off against Lord Toastwanker you could interrupt the proceedings by saying that Toast-Henchman #3 was actually you all along and immediately stab Lord Toastwanker in the back. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Check Required:** Roll a disguise check when you reveal yourself: if the result is a failure whoever you were impersonating immediately shows up right as you pull off the disguise (and they may have brought help). Unlike normal disguise checks, you cannot spend Mojo to get second chance at this one. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Party-Bound:** You can't choose to reveal yourself anywhere except in the vicinity of the rest of your party (so if they failed to get past the toast-guards, so did you). While you are gone the game goes on without you and you don't have any direct effect on the proceedings until you rejoin by revealing your disguise. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Mojo:** Every time you drop out of the proceedings to go undercover, you must spend 1 Mojo. |

-^{{ra>two-hearts?48|Social}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**A Pirate'Worth:** When meeting one or more creatures for the first timeyou may specify that they have heard of you before and exactly what they have heardFor exampleyou might use this ability to specify that Lord Toastwanker has heard that you're good at getting jobs done discreetly, or alternately that Lord Toastwanker's wife has heard that you're good at making love discreetly. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Supply Cost:** For every thing you specify that somebody has heard about you before, you must spend 1 Supply. | +^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Juliet'Repose:** You can convincingly pretend to be dead through self-hypnosis, chemical assistance or other trickery- your heartbeat slows, your breathing lessens, and your temperature dropsWhen a creature examines your “corpse”make a disguise check to hide the fact that you're faking it. You remain fully aware while feigning death and can stop at any time. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Put Yourself Under:** Faking your own death requires a procedure of uninterrupted concentration to pull off. |
-^ ^^^ +|{{fa>caret-right?24}} ^{{fa>star?24|Alternative}} |{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**I Am Slain:** You can pretend you are dead instantly at any timeincluding as an immediate reaction to taking damage (so you can make it look like the damage killed you). \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Mojo:** Every time you instantly "drop dead", you must spend 1 Mojo. |
-^{{ra>two-hearts?48|Social}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**VIP:** You can get into any exclusive establishmentevent, or social gathering in the game world simply by showing up and asking to be let in. Allies that lack this ability might or might not be allowed in with you depending on circumstances. This ability does not guarantee you entrance into classified areas or private residences (unless there's a party or something going on in there). Bad behavior can still get you un-invited and possibly physically thrown out. |+

-^{{ra>two-hearts?48|Social}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Sworn Foe:** You know how to leave a lasting impression, even if it's not a fond oneAfter having a negative experience with any creature, you can roll to establish relationship with them as a rival. This has the same odds (5+as establishing a friendship with a creature after a positive experienceonly it sometimes can be much easier to have a negative experience than a positive one. Rivals won't aid you the same way friends will, but will always treat you with respect and will hate the idea of anyone except them getting to defeat you. \\ \\ {{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Nemesis:** You can increase a Rival relationship to a Nemesis one with a further negative interaction and die roll of 9+. A nemesis hates you so much that they also kind of love you. | +^{{ra>gear-hammer?48|Utility}} ||{{fa>plus-circle?24&align=left}}**Method Acting:** When disguised as something elseyou can know or do things that your disguise could do even if you normally couldn'tFor exampleif you're  disguised as an American tourist you could respond to a question in English with a flawless accent even if you don't actually know the language, if you're disguised as a corpse (using Possumyou could show no reaction at all to being stabbedor if you're disguised as Lord Toastwanker (using Impersonation) you could enter the password to his computer even though you don't know it. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Be Fast:** Your uncanny imitations fall apart if you try to keep them up too long. You can only use this ability to do things that can be accomplished in approximately five seconds or less. \\ \\ {{fa>minus-circle?24&align=left}}**Mojo:** Making an uncanny imitation costs point of Mojo. |
